About Smita

Yoga has been part of my life since childhood. Growing up in India, I was fortunate to learn from expert teachers who introduced me not just to the postures, but to the deeper philosophy that yoga carries — the understanding that body, breath, and mind are not separate, but one integrated whole. That foundation has guided everything since.

"I see myself first and foremost as a student. That curiosity — the willingness to keep learning — is what I bring into every session I teach."

After relocating to Munich, I completed a formal yoga certification in Munich, Germany, bridging my lifelong practice with professional teaching standards.

Since then I have had the privilege of teaching through

  • The Munich Sports and Education Department, (Sports und Bildung)

  • The Münchner Volkshochschule (MVHS)

  • Riem Dornach Sports Association — communities I genuinely love being part of.

  • I teach from my own studio in Riem, which has become a calm, welcoming space for students of all levels and backgrounds.

  • Actively offering volunteering yoga and meditaton sessions at Salesforce

My sessions weave together Hatha yoga as a foundation, drawing on the Iyengar tradition's attention to alignment and its thoughtful use of props to make postures accessible and safe for every body. Breath work (pranayama) and meditation are not afterthoughts — they are woven into every session, because it is in that integration that the real benefits of yoga reveal themselves.

Whether you are stepping onto a mat for the first time or deepening an existing practice, my aim is the same: to offer you a space where you can slow down, tune in, and leave feeling more at ease in yourself than when you arrived.
